Pharmacy2U is a UK-based digital healthcare company founded in 1999 and headquartered in Leeds. As the country’s largest online pharmacy, it partners with the NHS to manage repeat prescriptions, dispensing over 1 million medication items per month and delivering them directly to patients’ homes. Embracing a digital-first model, Pharmacy2U operates four different websites including Pharmacy2U, Chemist Direct, LloydsDirect and The PharmPet Co. They combine automated dispensing, user-friendly online prescription management and convenient courier delivery to bring pharmacy services into the modern era.
With a mission to put patients in control of their healthcare, Pharmacy2U continues to expand its offering across online GP consultations, pet health and wellness products. However, rapid growth and strict compliance requirements meant they needed a partner to ensure all sites were fully compliant, to improve affiliate tracking and BigQuery reporting, and to better understand their data to enhance the overall customer experience.
Fabric Analytics began with a full audit across all four sites, ensuring cookie and ICO compliance. We implemented a server-side GTM structure to improve affiliate tracking accuracy and remove unnecessary third-party fees. Our expert team completed this in under two weeks – a testament to our speed and collaboration.
Next, we addressed inefficiencies in BigQuery reporting, where multiple scheduled queries were driving up costs. By redesigning and streamlining the data pipeline from the GA4 BigQuery export, we reduced complexity and significantly cut ongoing processing costs – achieving an estimated 80% reduction in BigQuery costs through improved efficiency and automation.
Fabric’s work delivered clear and measurable impact across all areas of the project. Pharmacy2U achieved an 80% reduction in BigQuery costs, driven by a more efficient and streamlined data pipeline, while the rollout of server-side GTM was completed in under two weeks, improving tracking accuracy and removing unnecessary third-party fee exposure. In addition, Fabric completed four full ICO and cookie compliance audits across Pharmacy2U’s sites, ensuring each brand met the required regulatory standards and could continue scaling safely and confidently.
