Importance of a measurement workshop

Are you unhappy with your GA4 configuration?! I imagine part of this is because you’ve got a ‘standard’ implementation vs a custom one.

Implementing a custom implementation is critical to get the most from the technology and that starts with a measurement workshop and creation of a measurement plan..

To help you out we’ve detailed our process below..

The sole aim of the measurement workshop is to agree exactly what your KPIs are and agree jointly about what needs to be tracked across the website.

Our measurement discovery workshop is a collaborative session aimed at identifying key business goals, defining relevant metrics, and establishing a measurement framework.

Our 4-step process ensures we get to an output that’s a shared document across Fabric and the client that will act as a blueprint for what needs to be tracked.

Step 1: Establish Business Goals and Objectives

  • Discuss and document the primary business goals and objectives. This could include increasing website conversions, improving customer retention, driving revenue growth, or any other relevant goals.
  • Prioritise and finalise the key goals and objectives that will be the focus of the measurement framework.

Step 2: Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Once the goals and objectives are established, facilitate a discussion to identify the most relevant and meaningful Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each goal.
  • Evaluate each proposed KPI based on its alignment with the goals, measurability, and ability to provide actionable insights.
  • Select a set of KPIs that best represent the progress and performance of the defined business goals.

Step 3: Determine Data Sources and Measurement Methods

  • Define the measurement methods and tracking mechanisms needed to collect the necessary data for each KPI.
  • Document the agreed-upon data sources, measurement methods, and tracking requirements.

Step 4: Develop a Measurement Plan

Summarise the outcomes of the workshop by developing a comprehensive measurement plan. Document the business goals, associated KPIs, data sources, measurement methods, and tracking requirements for each KPI.

  • Define the reporting and analysis framework, including the frequency, format, and distribution of reports to stakeholders.
  • Assign responsibilities and establish a timeline for the implementation of the measurement plan.
  • Share the measurement plan with workshop participants and relevant stakeholders for feedback and alignment.
